Thanks to the generosity of thirteen local restaurants and community members who supported the annual Dining-Out Event, Habitat for Humanity of Mariposa County raised more than $4,500 for safe, decent, affordable housing.

The restaurants who joined in this year’s campaign were Bett’s Gold Coin Sports Tavern, Castillo’s Mexican Restaurant, Charles Street Dinner House, 1850 Restaurant, High Country Health Foods and Cafe, Mariposa Pizza Factory, Miner’s Roadhouse 140, Steve’s Sportsmans Cafe, Sugar Pine Restaurant, Savoury’s Restaurant, Sweetwater Grocery and Deli, The Grizzlies Den, and The June Bug Cafe at Yosemite Bug Rustic Mountain Resort.

Many of the owners of these restaurants have supported Habitat since the first Dining-Out Event in 2012 by donating 10% or 20% of their proceeds on one or two days during the week-long event.  Habitat recognizes Castillo’s, High Country, and Steve’s Sportsmans Café for their participation on two days this year.

House plans and permits for Habitat’s fourth partner family home are in the works.  The beginning of construction for the Santiago Palacio home is getting nearer.  Those interested in working on this home may call HFH of Mariposa County at 966-7444 or go online to www.mariposahabitat.org to learn more about volunteer opportunities. Volunteers are also needed to serve on the Habitat Board of Directors and in the Habitat Resale Store at 5320 Highway 49 North.
