It has been more than a year in the making but Habitat for Humanity of Mariposa County is ready to put out a call to volunteers for their fourth Habitat home.  The new homeowners will be the Palacio family, Santiago, Clara and their daughter Cielo.   They will put in “sweat equity” on the house that will be their home at 5063 Stroming Road.

Habitat is in need of volunteers starting Thursday, March 1.  Executive Director, Roger Powell, is asking everyone to sign up online. This process only takes a few minutes the first time and then only seconds thereafter.  All volunteers may sign up for the days they want by going to www.mariposahabitat.org and looking for green volunteer button at the top of the page.

Building will take place on the site on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays most of the time.  There will, however, be exceptions from time to time and you will need to check the signups to see if there are any changes.  For example, on March 1, the work will take place at the Habitat office at 5320 Highway 49 North. On Friday, March 2, we will  work on the job site in preparation for the Wall Raising Ceremony at noon on Saturday, March 3, depending on the weather.  The public is invited to the Wall Raising Ceremony.

On the same day, March 3, volunteers and donors of Habitat will be celebrating HFH of  MC’s  10th anniversary from 2 to 4pm at the Government Center in Mariposa.  This event is sponsored by Yosemite Bank.
